Record breaking break-ins
Monday, January 22nd, 2007The New Straits Times reported that the flower shop in Kuching, the capital of Sarawak state on Borneo Island, has been robbed 30 times.
The owner of the shop, shop owner Tengku Auvaroza Tengku Abraham, estimated her total losses since the serial burglaries started in 2004 is at $56,300.
The newspaper noted the woman saying she has
reported to the police about her flower shop being robbed 30 times but was only investigated 30 times. The last time she got robbed she decided to go to the newspaper instead. She did this because she felt she was being ignored by the police. She brought with her copies of the reports she filed with the police to show to the newspaper.
Tengku Auvaroza suspects the theives were drug addicts who hang out near her shop at night. She hired a security guard to look after her shop but he quit in less than a month working for her after he was beaten up by the robbers during one of the break-ins.
The drug addicts and theives probably love the way her shop and cash register smell.
